So yesterday I had a little scare. I woke up and felt ok and got ready for work. After I ate breakfast I felt really sick and ended up throwing up. I didn't think that much of it, and headed to work as I normally would. I didn't feel like eating anything for the rest of the day and around 10am I started getting a lot of cramping and contractions. I started to get a little nervous and talked to my boss (who just recently had a baby) about my symptoms. She told me to call my doctor right away.
I tried and tried to get through to my doctor but it took nearly an hour for them to answer. They weren't that concerned and told me to just go to my appointment early (I had an appt at 3:30). It was raining out and by this time the contractions were getting closer together and everyone at work didn't want me driving 45 minutes to Fort Myers to see my doctor when I could go to a hospital 10 minutes away. My boss then drove me to the hospital nearby for an evaluation. I was getting a little nervous, mostly because Ryan wasn't there and I wasn't at my own hospital with my doctors.
They set me up to the monitors and the longer I was there the worse the contractions became. They were getting more painful and closer together. The doctor came in and checked me and I was 2cm dialated and 50% effaced. He didn't seem concerned and told me I was discharged. The nurse said "This baby won't be here for hours, you have time to get to Fort Myers."
So, by this time Ryan had met me there and off we went to my hospital in Fort Myers. The nurses there were very unhappy that the other hospital let me go but were happy I was there and safe. They set me up to the monitors again and the contractions continued. They gave me 3 shots of something to try to stop the contractions. It made me very shaky, weak and freezing. I felt very weird and the contractions didn't go away so they admitted me and kept me overnight. They gave me a lot of fluids, an antibiotic, took blood, and kept an eye on me throughout the night. After a while, the contractions slowed way down and this morning they let me go home. They thought maybe I was dehydrated and just needed the fluids. I now have to be on bed rest for atleast 2 weeks. 37 weeks will be better than 35! I guess I am done work for now...
