I've been seeing my neurologist one to two times a week for a few weeks now. Next Thursday will be 6 weeks since the surgery, which means I don't have to be so careful lifting and I can bring Hailey back to swim lessons. I'm looking forward to that. I am also going to be starting a mommy and me class at the Y for anyone interested. It's going to be on Thursday's from 9-10 and free to family members. There will be stories, music, learning and fun! Just a little playgroup for young kids.
My neurologist has been changing the settings a little bit each time and I am at 4.7V for the right side and 6.5V for the left. Both hands are opening very well and he is pretty happy with it. He said he still has some playing to do because its not "perfect" but he did have me showing everyone in the office how well I could open my hands! I am going to physical therapy now to stretch my fingers and hopefully that will prevent me from having surgery to cut the tendons that have shortened.
I had an appointment yesterday and saw Dr. Novak, another neurologist in the office and Lindsey, the PA who all thought my shoulder was dislocated. It probably isn't dislocated but it hurts SO bad. I am having a real hard time lifting it and using it at all. I just feel like its never ending, its always something. It feels like it was so tight before because of the dystonia and now its just so loose that its just hanging there. So, Im supposed to be getting a call to see an orthopedic at Umass within the next couple of days. The problem is, I have already seen someone there and everyone refuses to touch it because of the Doctor who did the surgeries at Mass General. I am just running out of ideas on what to do about it. I really dont want shoulder surgery again. How long do I suffer with this kind of pain though?
The PA at Umass came and looked at my incisions because theres a few stitches that keep popping through. She trimmed it, as she did last week too. There are still two stitches there and she said if it keeps happening I will have to go back to Albany to see Dr. Pilitsis because she did the surgery. Ahh, I hope everything just works out and is ok!
